        PROVERBS  CHAPTER SEVEN

      As we read today in Proverbs Seven, I hope that we can all see some things in ways that we could not before.  I have read these Proverbs many times, and with this particular one, I have written in my Bible these words next to it; drugs; alcohol; and addictions.   So, I am going to ask each of you to read  about the immoral woman but in place of her try to picture this as being a drug, alcohol, cigarette, over-eating, sexual lust or any other habit forming influence that will cause addiction.

      The reading is about a woman alluring a young man into her home, by her enticing words, and flattering lips. She is trying to convince him of something and I don't believe this is talking about sex.  vs.23....Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life ,  has caused me to reread this Proverb over and over, and then thinking about how drugs, and alcohol has snared so many in the trap of addiction.

      Now, I can read this and replace the woman with a drug. This is my thoughts on this Proverb. I am not a Theology teacher only a student. I just read the Word daily and have for quite a few years. I have ask God for wisdom and knowledge, and He has given it to me. He is still giving it to me, and it is through the Holy Spirit of God that I am taught. So, I ask you all to read it in the power of the Holy Spirit and ask for this wisdom. He gives when we ask.

      I can remember when I was young, fifteen to be exact, and I was invited to a slumber party to a friend who was a year or two older than I. There were about six or seven there and I believe I was the youngest. We had pulled the mattress off of the bed onto the floor, and were all laying around talking, and I believe that all of the girls were smoking cigarettes, except me.  I would watch them lay back and take that cigarette and inhale it deep and then slowly blow it out, making it look so appealing, so tranquil in its own way, so mature.

      vs.21..With her (cigarette) enticing speech she caused him (me) to yield, With her flattering lips (watching the smoke come out in rings, and hearing them talk about how good this was) she (cigarette) seduced me.

      I decided to try my hand at this. So, I lit up and I puffed away. I almost passed  away, or thought I was going to, lol, and then I would cough, choke, sputter; and tears were pouring out of my eye sockets, and I believe maybe some smoke too!

      Anyway, that is the day that I picked up one of the most deadliest habits, and drug inducing habit (nicotine), that ever was. And I thank You LORD for giving me the grace and taking this habit from me.

      Vs.22...Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks.

      I will rewrite this to my experience with this first cigarette....Immediately I went after that cigarette, as an ox goes to slaughter, or a fool to the correction of the stocks.

      Now, take the addiction that you have and place this into this entire Proverb and see if this is not you.  We are committing adultery with any drug, addictive force, alcohol, food sex, work, etc, and it is taking us to the slaughter.

       And you may ask, "how are we committing adultery?"  By going after other gods...by not staying with our God....by not trusting and loving Him.....by not talking to Him instead of the pimp god that was sent by satan to allure us.

       We have been enticed by its first appearance of wonder and beauty. We have heard someone say, "Want a hit? It is not addictive. This is just the lies that we have been told, because the doctors know that marijuana is healing and makes you feel better. It is not addictive."  Here's a big one...   "Oh, come on, You can have one drink. What is one drink going to hurt you. You need this drink, you are wound too tight, this will help you loosen up. Everyone needs to have some kind of fun."

      or... "Hey, what's up? What's wrong? Here just take this tube, put it in your mouth, and inhale like a cigarette. This will blow your mind! And it did!"  and... "As long as the needles are clean, they won't infect you, and these needles are sterilized.  Here, I'll show you the first time, and from then on you're on your own. This will take you places you have never been before." .... And it does, to the emergency room, detox centers; drug rehabs, ditches; gutters; some flea bitten motel room to give your body to get more of this to put into it. It gives you a hunger for more, and more is never enough.

      We need an angel of mercy to help us to overcome this!

       vs.24-27....Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth; Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death.

    ~~~"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."  Rom.12:1-2~~~
